How to Plan a Household Clearance

A complete list and clear access information make household-clearance quotes faster and help avoid extra items or costs on collection day.

Household furniture and appliances prepared for clearance in Glasgow

Show every item

Photograph the full group of items, then add close photos of large appliances or furniture. If an item is hidden behind another, include it in the written list. A clear list helps match the collection to the available van space.

For a fridge, washing machine or large cupboard, include the approximate size and say whether it is disconnected, empty and ready to move. Identify glass, mirrors, loose shelves and anything that is damaged.

Add property access

  • Collection postcode
  • Floor number
  • Stairs or lift
  • Parking distance
  • Large-item dimensions
  • Preferred date and time

Keep wanted items separate

Before the visit, clearly separate anything staying in the property. Keep documents, keys, personal items and anything intended for donation away from the clearance group. If several rooms are involved, label or photograph each group.

Prepare a Glasgow flat or close

For upper floors, confirm whether the lift is working and large enough. Clear shared stairs and explain any controlled entry, building time restriction or long carry from the nearest legal stopping point.

Prepare before collection

Empty cupboards, fridges and drawers. Keep smaller loose items together and clear the route to the door. Extra items added on arrival must be agreed and may cost more.
